St. Charles Police Officers to Take the Plunge for Charity
Officer Jennifer Bresnahan will lead the STCPD Team in the March 5 Polar Plunge.

From St. Charles Police: Across the state, Polar Plunge events have become a popular way to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics of Illinois. Even though the Chicago area has experienced an uncharacteristically balmy winter, unfortunately for plungers, water temperatures retain the ‘polar’ aspect of the event.
The St. Charles Police Department will be represented by a team of plungers at the Yorkville Polar Plunge at Silver Springs State Park at 1 p.m. March 5, with Officer Jennifer Bresnahan serving as the Team Captain at the event. This will be Bresnahan’s third time participating in the event, but her first as a part of the St. Charles team. Bresnahan says volunteering and raising funds for the Special Olympics has been one of the biggest highlights of her law enforcement career so far.
“Seeing the pure joy on the athletes' and family member's faces while being included and accomplishing great feats is what motivates to volunteer for the Special Olympics whenever I can” says Bresnahan.

The Polar Plunge is the first of many events across the state as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising campaign to benefit Special Olympics Illinois this year. The St. Charles Police Department raised $6,331.54 for the campaign in 2016. For this year’s Polar Plunge, the St. Charles team has already raised $1,335, as well as an additional $2,000 through other fundraising events this year. The Department has a goal to raise over $10,000 for the Special Olympics this year.
