Tinley Park Police Chief Steve Neubauer Greets His New Community

Greetings! My name is Steve Neubauer, and I am honored to be your new police chief.

Tinley Park is a wonderful community and is blessed with an outstanding police department. Late Tinley Park Police Chief Mike O'Connell worked tirelessly to provide the community with a professional police organization and I intend to continue that tradition.

I was fortunate to work as a police officer for 37 years for the City of Elmhurst. I worked my way through the ranks and recently retired aftr nine years as chief. I have been married for 35 years to my lovely wife, Kathy, and we have three adult children who live in the Chicago area.

I look forward to meeting the officers, community leaders and residents of Tinley Park and becoming part of this village. The Tinley Park Police Department has a long tradition of supporting a high quality of life in the community.

Tinley Park is a very safe community, but all communities face issues of traffic safety, crime and neighborhood order. We will continue to do our best to enhance the safety of all who live, work and visit our community.

I have learned one lesson after over 30 years as a police officer—the police department cannot maximize the safety of a community without the support and assistance of those we serve.

I am counting on all of you to call us when you see something amiss, witness unusual or suspicious activity, or have a constructive idea.

Like the Homeland Security slogan, "If you see something, say something."

I hope all of you will participate in this role for a safer Tinley Park.
