Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Emma not only is a straight A+ student in all AP and Honors classes, but she is a rising star on the Varsity tennis team whose team made and won conference last year and made Varsity badminton team as a freshman going to conference, as well. Not only is Emma athletic and a top student scoring all A+’s according to her teachers, but she’s also involved in student council and all high school spirit events and drives to give back to the community, an active volunteer going towards over 100 volunteer hours to earn special honors at Andrew upon graduation, the Green Team as an environmentalist to help protect the school and the environment, school newspaper writer, and robotics club.

She’s a fantastic artist that lends her time to high school clubs, teachers, and middle school events creating flyers and posters to promote fundraisers and events on her own time. She applied as a volunteer and was chosen to be a Center volunteer and volunteers daily as a tutor at “the Center” a teen student tutoring place on campus to help to struggling students with reading, science, and math.

Emma is a strong activist through her writing to bring awareness to teen mental health, good nutrition and its effect on brain development, anti-bullying, climate change in our environment, and Type 1 diabetes, a disease that is near and dear to her heart as her brother, her uncle, and two cousins have all been diagnosed. Emma is a well liked and respected by her peers and teachers alike. Anyone that meets her knows that she will go out of her way to put others’ needs before her own. She hopes to grow up and bring awareness to the changes needing to be made for women in math and science. Emma aspires to be an aerospace engineer when she graduates.
