Local Man Charged in Trio of Highway Crashes

Police arrested a Tinley Park over the weekend and charged him Monday in connection with three separate crashes on the Bishop Ford that left several people injured. He is expected in court this morning.

A local man was charged Monday in connection with three separate Sunday morning car accidents on the Bishop Ford that left five injured.

Paul Woods, 24, of the 7100 block of West 170th Street in , faces one felony count of aggravated fleeing and eluding police, a misdemeanor driving under the influence charge, reckless driving and speeding more than 100 m.p.h., Burnham Police Chief Peter Belos told the Chicago Tribune

Woods was pursued by a Burnham police officer after he almost struck a group of pedestrians in the parking lot of a sports bar in Burnham. ... The first crash happened about 3:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes near 120th Street, according to state police.

That crash involved two vehicles and left three injured. A gapers delay in the southbound lanes led to a three-car crash about the same time, in which two people suffered minor injuries, state police said.

Four of the victims were taken to two area hospitals. Authorities didn't release where the fifth was taken. Woods is expected in Markham bond court Tuesday morning, the Tribune reports.
