Man Shoots Woman Over Instagram Birthday Wish From Ex: Police
A Dolton man was charged Wednesday after a violent scene unfolded following the man's discovery of a message on social media.
MERRILLVILLE, IN — A south suburban man faces attempted murder and battery charges after shooting a woman over her ex-boyfriend's birthday wishes to her on Instagram from two years earlier, according to an affidavit.
Khalil A. Parker, of Dolton, was charged Wednesday with attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal confinement, intimidation, two counts of domestic battery and one count of pointing a firearm, the Post-Tribune reports.
Parker is accused of confronting the Merrillville woman April 17, angered over the social media chatter. He demanded she call the other man, and threatened to shoot her if she didn't, the Post-Tribune reports, citing an affidavit. He "punched her in the head, spat on her and accused her of cheating," in addition to shooting her, according to the affidavit.

Parker shot the woman twice in one knee and twice in one foot, police said.
Parker's bail was set at $12,000 cash surety bond. A court date was not known as of Thursday.
