No Emergency? Hold Your Calls To Tinley Park Police

Tinley police are asking residents to hold off on filing some complaints until the brutal cold ends so officers can focus on priority needs.

TINLEY PARK, IL —Tinley Park police are out full force to protect the public during the extreme cold but, they said, if your problem can wait, hold your call. Officers will be available for critical and essential problems only.

"We need our officers out there on the streets," said Police Chief Matthew Walsh.

Walsh said that they were devoting the force to helping people who need it most, such as with wellness checks, accidents, injuries, criminal activity or even stranded motorists.

"There were plenty of people whose cars didn't start yesterday who needed our help," he said, including a truck that was blocking the roadway.

If other problems arise, such as someone damaging your mailbox, hold your call until next week.

"We'll take that call for sure," he said. "Just not today."

The request is for Thursday, or the remainder of the extreme cold only. In the coming days, as forecasters say the temperature will approach the 40s, things will be back to normal, Walsh said.
