Orland Township Launches Initiative To Help Residents Claim Property Tax Savings

The program assists residents in claiming property tax savings available from previous years, the Township said.

ORLAND TOWNSHIP — Orland Township officials have launched an effort geared to assist homeowners in claiming any property tax savings available from previous years, the Township said in a release.

The initiative will assist homeowners in identifying whether they are eligible for significant savings through exemptions such as the Homeowners Exemption, Senior Exemption, Senior Freeze Exemption, Persons with Disabilities Exemption, Veterans with Disabilities Exemption, Returning Veterans Exemption, Home Improvement Exemption, and Long-Time Occupant Exemption. The service will also identify any overpayments in the past that can result in significant refunds for residents, the Township said.

"Many residents may not realize they are eligible for various property tax exemptions that can lead to substantial savings on their tax bills," said Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady. "Our goal with this initiative is to demystify the exemptions process and ensure that every resident has the opportunity to benefit from these potential savings."
