Protest On Oak Park Avenue In Tinley Park Draws 'About 150'

A number of people were along Oak Park Avenue in downtown Tinley Park to protest the death of George Floyd.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A protest over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis took shape in Tinley Park Tuesday afternoon. "About 150" people showed up beginning at 4 p.m. to protest along Oak Park Avenue near North Street in downtown Tinley Park, according to someone who was present for the protest.

A Facebook event posted earlier on Tuesday showed a photo of a sign that said "Sorry for the inconvenience, we are trying to change the world." The event posting indicates the protest started outside the Oak Park Avenue train station.

As of 5:30 p.m., the person present for the protest said it was peaceful and no incidents of violence or destruction had occurred. At the time, the protest included mostly chants.

The protest ended peacefully after about an hour, the person present for the protest said.
