With the April Consolidated Election just a few months away, see who is in the running for Park Board in Tinley Park.

TINLEY PARK, IL — The April 2021 Consolidated Elections are just months away. Candidates for various positions around Tinley Park are officially in the running for mayor, village board and of course, park board.
The Tinley Park Park District has three seats for Park Commissioner available in the April 2021 election. The park district said three people have submitted paperwork to run for Park Commissioner this year. The three candidates include incumbent, President Marie B. Ryan, and newcomers Lisa O’Donovan and Don Cuba.
Park Boards are responsible for creating and enabling policies. Commissioners are responsible for passing ordinances and resolutions, similar to village and city board members. The board also is responsible for adopting budgets, appointing committees and more.

The Park Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month and meetings are held at The Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center, 8125 W. 171st St. Meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m. and the public is always welcome to attend.
"It is very exciting to see so many people actively participating in the democratic process in their local communities," Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough said in a news release. "These elections are often overlooked although they have the most impact on our day-to-day lives."
