Construction Planned to Smooth Crossing at Kensington Avenue in La Grange

The crossing is set to close from April 29 to May 6.

La Grange, IL - The Kensington Avenue railroad crossing will be closed to cars and pedestrians from 9 a.m. April 29 to 6 p.m. May 6.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will replace the track, ties, crossing mats and asphalt to reconstruct the crossing, according to the Village of La Grange.

A posted detour will lead traffic on Burlington and Hillgrove Avenues to the rail crossings at Brainard Avenue to the west or Ashland Avenue to the east.

Noise may increase temporarily while work is performed Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the village.

Children walking to and from school should use the Ashland Avenue grade crossing. A crossing guard will be sent to the Ashland Avenue crossing to help children during the construction.
