Few Violent Crimes Reported in Western Springs 2014: FBI Report

The FBI recently released its annual ”Crime in the United States” report, which shows only two violent crimes were reported in Western Springs in 2014.

Violent crime includes offenses involving force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the FBI.

Of the violent and non-violent crimes reported in 2014 in Western Springs, there were:

• 0 murders and non-negligent manslaughters
• 0 rapes
• 2 robberies
• 0 aggravated assaults
• 44 property crimes
• 8 burglaries
• 35 reports of larceny/theft

Nationally, violent crime decreased last year by 0.2 percent from 2013, according to the report.
