LT News: Village Junior Named Student Rep to Board, Girls Golf Camp Launched
Also, a number of awards and honors have been handed out to Lyons Township thespians and theatre program participants.

Western Springs junior named Board representative
Alexandra Blaze, a Western Springs junior, has been named the 2012-2013 Student Representative to the Lyons Township Board of Education.
Blaze, who begins her one-year term in August, is a member of the track and cheerleading teams, a Snowball member, a volunteer at Young Life and Hinsdale Hospital and a high school consultant member of the Nordstrom Fashion Board.

As Student Representative, Blaze will consult with the D204 Superintendent and attend both D204 Board meetings and Student Council Executive Board meetings, serving as a liaison between the administration and Lyons Township students. (The position of Student Representative was created 13 years ago.)
“I believe that LTHS is a great school to begin with, and is not a place to be taken for granted.” Blaze said in a school press release, stating a goal of “work[ing] together with other leaders of LT to make LT an ever better place.”

Girls golf camp launched
Lyons Township has announced a golf camp to be held at Flagg Creek Golf Course this summer, June 4-8, for girls entering 5th through 9th grade.
The camp will be staffed by current and former LT varsity golfers and golf coaches. Registration is $50, including prizes and T-shirts for camp participants. Girls are expected to bring their own clubs and wear golf-appropriate clothing.
Additionally, both boys and girls from 6th through 12th grade are invited to participate in Flagg Creek’s summer nine-hole tournaments on Jun. 15, Jun. 29 and Jul. 13. Registration is $25 for each of these tournaments.

Theatre Board award winners
The LTHS Theatre Board has announced the winners of its annual Theatre Board Awards, presented at an Academy Awards-style ceremony complete with secret envelopes.
Directors’ Choice Awards went to seniors Maryclaire Zurowski, Bridget Foley, Sarah Thompson, and Samantha Peroutka, juniors Emily Swanson, Jameson “Jamie” Yong, Kaitlyn Tedeschi, Mary Katherine Rohaly, Tess Wisher, Joy Mitchell and Connor Hughes, and sophomores Ryan Chilton and Joey Bahena. Chilton also won a Singular Sensation award, and senior Brendan Blaber won the Michael Drake Playwriting Award for his play “Scrapbook.”
Theatre Board managers for the 2012-2013 season were named as juniors Swanson (visual design,) Matt Pesch and Collin Thomas (technical,) Rohaly (props,) Wisher (make-up,) and Emily Chlapik (costumes,) sophomores Monica Donnelly and Annie Milcahey (public relations,) Chilton (technical,) Chris Zurowski (props,) Madeline Florek (make-up) and Kristen Wuerl (costumes,) and freshmen Riley Carroll (asst. public relations and asst. visual design,) Amanda Bolton (asst. technical,) Gillian Dunlop (asst. props) and Kelly Riordan (asst. makeup and asst. costumes.)
The senior directors for the Mavros Festival were named as juniors Rohaly, Swanson, Tedeschi and Yong.
“Thespians” and “Honor Thespians” recognized
LTHS also inducted 20 new students into LTHS Thespian Troupe #1368 in recognition of 200 hours of service to the Reber Center and Performing Arts Center, and named 11 as Honor Thespians for 600 hours of service. (Two students received both awards.)
The new Thespians are seniors Leilah Carroll, Allison Ceranek, Emily Ellis, Ben Krueger and Nora Mulcahey, juniors Chloe Baldwin, Evan Boyd, Emily Chlapik, Joy Mitchell, Matt Pesch and Teddy Salazar, and sophomores Joey Bahena, Erin Blaber, Ryan Chilton, Monica Donnelly, Madeline Florek, Sean McCrohan, Becky Valek, Kristen Wuerl and Chris Zurowski.
The new Honor Thespians are seniors Brendan Blaber, Bridget Foley, Kate Stanton and Maryclaire Zurowski, juniors Boyd, Mary Katherine Rohaly, Emily Swanson, Kaitlyn Tedeschi, Tess Wisher and Jameson “Jamie” Yong, and sophomore Chilton.
