Metropolitan Alliance of Police Begin Solicitation Drive in Western Springs

Western Springs, IL - The Metropolitan Alliance of Police has begun its annual residential solicitation drive.
The Metropolitan Alliance of Police Chapter 360 is the union representing police officers, according to Western Springs police, and Chapter 456 is the union representing the police sergeants in the Western Springs Police Department for collective bargaining purposes.
These calls are made by MAP representatives, not by police officers, according to Western Springs police chief Pamela Church.

"No member of the bargaining unit will personally conduct any solicitations of any Village of Western Springs merchants, residents or citizens on behalf of MAP or on behalf of the Western Springs Police Department," Church said in a statement.
Local police officers will not pick up donations from homes or businesses, and contributions aren't given directly to the police department, Church said.

The Western Springs Police Department only officially sanctions local fundraising efforts on behalf of the Illinois Special Olympics. These fundraising initiatives for Illinois Special Olympics are not associated with MAP's telephone solicitation.
