A 'Streak' That Western Springs Wants To Continue
The fire department released a statistic that may surprise some.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs reports no structure fires in 2024 and so far in 2025.
In Western Springs, the agency that handles fires is officially called the Department of Fire and EMS, though it's called the fire department in shorthand.
As with most places, the bulk of the department's work is in emergency medical services.

"We're so happy that there were no structure fires," Fire Chief Brian Scott said in an interview Wednesday.
He credits firefighters and, in particular, the department's fire prevention bureau.

"It's not just us," the chief said. "When citizens and businesses are doing the right thing, you get a good outcome. Let's hope the streak continues."
According to the U.S. Census, Western Springs has 4,475 homes.
Nationwide, about 350,000 structure fires are reported annually.
