String Of Western Springs Car Burglaries: Cops

They all occurred on a night last week in a local neighborhood.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Five unlocked cars were broken into overnight Thursday in a Western Springs neighborhood, police said.

Taken from the cars were a bag containing business records in the 600 block of 54th Place, $20 in cash in the 5300 block of Johnson Avenue and a phone charging cord in the 5400 block of Caroline Avenue, police said.

Another car was reported as broken into in the 5300 block of Johnson Avenue, but nothing was stolen. The same was the case with a car in the 5200 block of Grand Avenue.

Reckless conduct

  • Two juveniles were cited Thursday in the 900 block of Burlington Avenue on charges of reckless conduct. They were riding electric bicycles in the 900 block of Burlington Avenue; bikes are barred on downtown sidewalks.

DUI

  • A 40-year-old Chicago man was arrested July 20 at Ogden and Grove avenues on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding, driving with a suspended registration and driving an uninsured car.
  • A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday in the 3800 block of Wolf Road on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper parking on the roadway. Police said the man was asleep behind the wheel in traffic.
