Western Springs Fire Department Gets $64,000 Grant for Equipment Upgrades
The grant will go toward thermal imaging cameras and new washers and dryers equipped for cleaning contaminated clothes.

The Western Springs Fire Department will soon have a new tool at its disposal thanks to a $64,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security’s firefighter assistance program.
Thermal imaging cameras will help firefighters zero in on flames and see victims who are trapped in smoky rooms.
The department plans to purchase four to six cameras, as well as specialized washers and dryers used for clothes contaminated with hazardous materials.
