Western Springs Home Invasion Suspect Charged: Cops
Authorities said he committed the crimes after fleeing a nearby hospital.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A Willow Springs man was identified as the one who invaded two Western Springs houses last week, police said.
William O'Brien, 36, was charged with home invasion, residential burglary, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.
Police said O'Brien fled earlier in the day from the La Grange hospital, which is close to where the two home invasions occurred.

In response to a Patch inquiry, village spokeswoman Selmin Cicek said the police department's assistance was requested to help find a person who left the hospital. She said he was not in custody or being detained when he was at the hospital.
About 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said they were called to the first invasion, which was in the 5000 block of Harvey Avenue. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

Shortly after, another home invasion was reported in the 200 block of Rugeley Road, where O'Brien attacked a male in the home and stole a car, police said. It's several houses down as Harvey curves into Rugeley.
O'Brien left the area in the stolen car, police said. About 9:30 p.m., officers arrested O'Brien without any problems in Willow Springs, police said.
