Wires Altered In Western Springs Restaurant Burglary: Police
Video shows how two ATM theft suspects committed their crime at a local eatery, authorities said.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Two men broke into a Western Springs restaurant through a back door and stole an ATM, police said.
The burglary occurred about 11 p.m. July 8 at Salerno's Pizzeria, 821 Burlington Ave., police said.
Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.

According to the report, the men used a glass breaker tool to shatter the back door. They also appeared to have manipulated the alarm wires, pulling them out of the electrical box, so the break-in did not register with the alarm company, police said.
Police said surveillance footage showed that one of the men left out the back door with the wall-mounted ATM. It is believed the pair removed the machine with a yellow crowbar.

Shortly before the burglary, the footage showed one of the men pulling up to the business on an electric bicycle or electric scooter, police said. He was seen looking through the back door.
