WHEATON, IL — As the coronavirus crisis continues, DuPage County has once again partnered with the Illinois Housing Development Authority to offer up to $25,000 in emergency rental assistance to residents.

The program will aid qualifying residents with rental payments from June 2020 through April 2022. The following criteria must be met to be eligible for the rental assistance program:

  • The household must have experienced a financial hardship due to the pandemic, either directly or indirectly.
  • The household must be behind on rental payments or be at risk of housing instability or homelessness.
  • The household's 2020 income must be below 80 percent of the area median income when adjusted for household size.

"After launching this program in May, we saw a tremendous response to the program and numerous DuPage County residents who needed financial help. We want to provide as much support for our residents as possible, so we are pleased to be able to relaunch this housing assistance program,” DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin said in a news release.
