Body Found In Tent In 'Wooded Area' In West Chicago

Police say it appears the person had been there "for an extended period of time before being discovered."

WEST CHICAGO, IL — A body was found inside a tent in a "wooded area" in West Chicago Tuesday, according to an update from the West Chicago Police Department.

Police were called to the 100 block of North Avenue just before 2 p.m. after the body was found by a "passerby," per the update. According to police, it appears the person had "been there for an extended period of time before being discovered."

The discovery brought a large police presence to the area, closing an eastbound lane on North Avenue near the scene around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The update said there was no known danger to the public as of Tuesday afternoon.
