Bullet Found In Sheriff's Driveway; 'I'm Not A Soft Target:' Mendrick
"You run for office and the nuts come out," Sheriff James Mendrick said after he found a bullet in his driveway, per his Facebook post.

DUPAGE COUNTY — An "unspent bullet" was found by DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick in the driveway of his home, according to a post the sheriff shared on Facebook Saturday morning.
'"You run for office and the nuts come out," Mendrick said in the post.
He wrote, "I have no weapons of that caliber that could receive that ammunition, so it's certainly not mine."

"I’m not a soft target,"Mendrick continued. "Be certain of that, but it’s such a shame that we have to worry about this kind of stuff in DuPage County."
Mendrick launched his campaign for governor in late February and said he will not seek a third term as sheriff.
