Burglaries, Phone Scam, Porch Pirates: Wheaton Police Blotter

WHEATON, IL — Two burglaries, a bike theft, a porch pirate incident and other crimes were reported in Wheaton in late February and early March, per the city's most recent crime blotters.

Prescription Package Stolen

A package containing prescription items was stolen from outside of Northwest Podiatry, 705 Warrenville Rd. The incident took place between 1 p.m. on Feb. 18 and 5 p.m. on Feb. 19.

Scammer Poses As DuPage Sheriff's Office Employee

On Feb. 19 at 3:30 p.m., a resident got a call from a scammer purporting to be an employee from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. The caller convinced the resident to send money via wire to an unknown individual.

Home Burglarized on Lincoln Avenue

A house was burglarized in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue sometime between 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 22 and 4 a.m. on Feb. 23. "[M]ultiple items" were taken during the burglary, per the crime blotter. Police told Patch no additional information was available, due to an ongoing investigation.

Dorm Room Burglarized at Wheaton College

A guitar was stolen from a dorm room during a burglary that took place at Wheaton College. The room was burglarized sometime between Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 20 at 4 p.m.

Package Stolen From Home On Sibelius Court

Someone stole a package that was delivered by Amazon to a house in the 200 block of Sibelius Court. The burglary happened between 8 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 6 a.m. on Feb. 25.

Fraud Incident At Aldi

Police say a shopper at Aldi, 20 W. Loop Rd., was approached by a stranger who asked them to make a donation to a fundraiser. After the shopper used their debit card for the donation, they discovered "multiple large withdrawals" had been made from their checking account, per the crime blotter. The incident took place on Feb. 27 around 4:45 p.m.

Bike Stolen At Wheaton Library

An unlocked bike was stolen from the bicycle rack at Wheaton Public Library. The theft took place on Feb. 28 between 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
