Child Sexual Exploitation Investigation: 'Person Of Interest' Taken Into Custody In Carol Stream
Carol Stream police say they assisted the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in conducting a search warrant on East Gundersen Drive.
CAROL STREAM, IL — A "person of interest was taken into custody in Carol Stream amid a child sexual exploitation investigation involving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, police say.
Carol Stream Police assisted with a search warrant that was executed at a home in the 500 block of Gundersen Drive on Tuesday. Police say there is not a threat to the public.
Per a news release from the Carol Stream Police Department, "One of the primary responsibilities of Homeland Security Investigations is identifying and investigating individuals who target minors for sexual exploitation and abuse. These efforts are strengthened through close partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, allowing federal, state and local authorities to collectively expand their ability to protect our most vulnerable population."
