Proof No. 5 Set To Close In Wheaton

The restaurant at 214 W. Front St. is set to be replaced by a new concept restaurant from parent company Bourbon Belly Hospitality.

WHEATON, IL — Proof No. 5 is set to close its Wheaton location mid-January. The fine dining restaurant and bar announced Wednesday that it will close for good on Jan. 18 and is set to be replaced by another concept from parent company Bourbon Belly Hospitality (BBH).

A statement on Facebook read, in part, "With heavy hearts we will be closing on the 18th of January. We are absolutely honored to have been a part of our community's many birthdays, date nights, showers and many other important moments. Trusting us with those memories is a reflection of the work that so many provided Proof No. 5."

The statement continued, "To the any regulars and routine visitors, thank you for your support and for taking care of our staff. Your friendships will not be forgotten. Wheaton is truly a wonderful community and we certainly will not forget that."

Customers took the comments to express their disappointment at the news. Andy L. wrote, "Sad to hear, but look forward to your next concept."

Proof No. 5 has been known for its elevated cuisine, with a menu of shareable plates, handhelds, entrees and salads, many of which drew influence from different types of Asian cuisine. Their bar menu boasted a large selection of traditional and craft cocktails, along with mocktails and dozens of bourbon and whiskey options.

Bourbon Barrel Hospitality is also the parent company to The Burger Local, barrel +rye, Maize + Mash and Burger Social.
