Cop Dunk Tank, Helicopter Landing, More Planned For National Night Out In Wheaton

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton police will once again take part in National Night Out, with a family-friendly event held at Northside Park on Aug. 5.

The event will feature police demonstrations, interactive games, live music and more. There will even be chance to dunk a police officer in a dunk tank.

Kids can watch a helicopter landing, run through a mock SWAT obstacle course and fish with members of the Wheaton Police Department. Food and drinks will be served during the free event and local groups and organizations will be on hand to share info and offer more activities for attendees.

National Night Out got its start in 1984 as an initiative to build relationships between community members and local police departments. Now, events are held throughout the U.S. during the first Tuesday in August each year.
