DuPage County Collecting Coronavirus Protective Gear

As the U.S. faces a shortage of personal protective equipment, DuPage County is collecting new supplies for local frontline workers.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — DuPage County is collecting personal protective equipment, known as PPE, for frontline workers dealing with the new coronavirus. Medical providers, first responders and patients have been at risk for contracting COVID-19 as communities across the country face a gear shortage.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, there are 320 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in DuPage County and the county has seen eight deaths. The state has 5,056 cases as of Monday, March 30.

The county is looking for unopened personal protective equipment in the original packaging. Items currently needed include:

  • N-95, surgical or procedural masks
  • Isolation and non-surgical gowns
  • Nitrile, sterile and sergical gloves
  • Goggle and safety glasses
  • Face shields
  • Sani Cloth Germicidal Disinfecting Surface Wipes

“Our first responders and medical professionals are on the front lines of this unprecedented fight against COVID-19," DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin said. "Keeping them safe is of the utmost importance as they continue to care for our residents."
