Health Department Urges Updated COVID-19, RSV, Flu Shots In DuPage Co.
County health officials recommend vaccinations for flu, COVID-19 and RSV as the winter months approach.
DUPAGE COUNTY — The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) is encouraging residents to get updated flu and COVID-19 shots as winter approaches. In a recent update they also strongly urged pregnant and immunocompromised people to get their vaccines.
The update noted that respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is more common during the winter and that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently recommended vaccines for people over 60, infants and others who may be more susceptible to RSV.
“COVID-19 is still a health threat for many people, and last winter, COVID-19, flu and RSV spread widely at the same time," DCHD Executive Director Adam Forker said in a statement. “Immunizations are the most powerful tools we have to prevent serious illness and death from COVID-19, flu, and RSV. They are especially important for those at higher risk of complications."
