Man Sentenced To 18 Years For Home Invasion, Gun Charges In Wheaton
Police say Timothy Jackson, 32, broke into a home in 2021 and threatened to kill a woman. He was also convicted of a 2020 gun charge.

WHEATON, IL — Judge Margaret O’Connell sentenced a man to 18 years in prison in connection with a 2020 gun-related incident at 7-Eleven and a 2021 armed home invasion, both of which took place in Wheaton.
Timothy Jackson, 32, was convicted of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in December 2024 for the incident at 7-Eleven. He was convicted of aggravated unlawful restraint and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in July 2024 for the home invasion.
Jackson, who had been convicted of a prior felony, was arrested on Jan. 8, 2020 for bringing a Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 9mm semi-automatic pistol into a 7-Eleven store in Wheaton. He was taken into custody and held on $75,000 bond. Jackson was released after posting bail.

Police were called to a home in the 700 block of Childs Street on Oct. 22, 2021, after Jackson's ex-girlfriend reported he had broken into her home and threatened to kill her. Jackson is accused of aiming a gun at the woman and keeping her in the home, and then fleeing before officers got to the scene.
In December 2021, Jackson was arrested after a brief foot pursuit when police saw him leaving a home in Wheeling.

“Mr. Jackson is a convicted felon and as such has forfeited his right to ever legally possess a firearm,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
Berlin added, “The fact that Mr. Jackson continued to illegally possess a weapon, even while out on bond for unlawful possession of a weapon, demonstrates his complete lack of respect for the rule of law. To make matters worse, Mr. Jackson used his illegally possessed gun to hold his former girlfriend against her will. Judge O’Connell’s sentence today sends a strong message that in DuPage County we respect the rule of law and will not tolerate those who choose to ignore it."
Jackson was given a 10-year sentence for the home invasion and an 8-year sentence for the 7-Eleven incident.
