Outdoor Ice Rinks, Sledding Hills Open Throughout DuPage County
See which ice rinks and sledding hills are open in DuPage County as the week's freezing temperatures linger.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — There's perhaps one silver lining to the fact that temperatures have lingered in the single digits: outdoor ice rinks and sledding hills are reopening throughout DuPage County.
Below, you'll find a roundup of sledding hills and outdoor skating rinks in the area that were open as of Feb. 2. Be sure to check your park district's info via Rainout Line before you head out to make sure the rink is still open and ready for skating before you arrive.
Downers Grove
Ice Skating at Whitlock Park

4000 Fairview Avenue, Downers Grove
Ice skaters can bundle up and head to Whitlock Park at 40th and Fairview in Downers Grove to practice their spins on the rink. When the rink is open, unsupervised skating is permitted from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sledding Hills
When weather permits, sledding is open from dawn to dusk at the following Downers Grove parks:
- Concord Square Sled Hill, Springside and Concord
- Ebersold Park Sled Hill, 59th Street and Main Street
- Gilbert Park Sled Hill, 1500 Gilbert Ave.
- O'Brien Park Sled Hill, 6909 Dunham Rd.
Glen Ellyn
Ice Skating At Newton Park
707 Fairview Ave., Glen Ellyn
Open ice skating is available at Newton Park in Glen Ellyn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hockey players can hit the rink when open skate is not in effect.
Naperville
Ice Skating
Ice skating was open as of Feb. 2 at the following outdoor rinks in Naperville:
- Centennial Park, 500 W. Jackson Ave.
- Nike Sports Complex, 288 W. Diehl Rd.
- Wolf's Crossing Community Park, 3252 Wolf's Crossing Rd.
When weather conditions permit, the above rinks are open until 10 p.m. and can be illuminated via a button that activates the rink's lighting.
Sledding Hills
Sledding hills open at sunrise and close an hour after sunset when snow is ample at the following parks in Naperville:
- Arrowhead Park, 711 Iroquois Avenue
- Brook Crossings, 1015 95th Street
- Country Lakes Park, 1835 North Aurora Road
- Gartner Park, 524 W Gartner Road
- Weigand Riverfront Park, 2436 S. Washington Street
- May Watts Park, 804 S. Whispering Hills Drive
- Wolf’s Crossing Community Park, 3252 Wolf’s Crossing Road
Sledding is also available until 10 p.m. at Rotary Hill's Riverwalk Sled Hill, located at 443 Aurora Ave. by the Millennium Carillon.
Wheaton
Ice Skating at Central Athletic Complex
500 S. Naperville Rd., Wheaton
Central Athletic Complex boasts two outdoor skating rinks that were open for skating as of Feb. 2. Skaters can visit the rinks for reserve skate hours Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
