From Fighting Fires to Saving Lives: Firefighters Unite for Blood Drive
Wilmette and Winnetka-Kenilworth firefighters partner with Vitalant to ensure blood is there when patients need it.
The Wilmette and Winnetka-Kenilworth Fire Departments are once again answering the call to serve the community—this time by rolling up their sleeves! Together, they are hosting a community blood drive on Friday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at 428 Green Bay Road, Winnetka.
Organized in partnership with Vitalant, the blood drive comes at a crucial time. Summer is traditionally a difficult season for blood collection, with vacations and busy schedules keeping many regular donors away. Every donation has the power to help hospital patients—from trauma victims and cancer patients to newborns in need of transfusions.
Extra Reasons to Donate
- A Sweet Thank You: Presenting donors will receive a coupon for a pint of frozen custard from Culver’s.
- Health Insight: For a limited time, all September donors will receive a free hemoglobin A1C test, which can provide important information about your risk for prediabetes or diabetes.

Community Impact
Blood donations are a simple but powerful way to make a difference. One donation can help up to three lives. By joining this effort, community members not only support patients in need but also stand alongside their local firefighters in a mission of service and care.
