Wilmette Star Student 'Makes The Most Of Every Situation'

The standout soccer goalkeeper graduated New Trier High School in three and a half years — and still found time to learn to fly planes.

We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Wilmette.

WILMETTE, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Scott Krone, who nominated his daughter Elise, a freshman at Texas Christian University.

Star local student’s name
Elise

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Elise graduated in December from high school with an un-weighted GPA of 4.0 and a 35 ACT. She graduated in 3.5 years so she could begin training with her college, TCU, soccer team.

Elise played 6 years in the Girls Academy League with FC United. She was a 5-time captain, 2-time team representative and 2 time club representative to the GA league.

She made USA Soccer's regional qualifying camp, and was a 2 time Camp Shutout Goalie of the Year. She coached pre-schoolers and elementary school players through Trevian soccer. She also worked at the Winnetka Thrift Store which supports Winnetka Family Services.

During her free time, she also learned to fly airplanes at Waukegan Airport's Stick and Rudder.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Elise is the type of person who has the ability to move effortlessly between different social groups and make the most of every situation. She brings a sense of purpose and fun to the group.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Elise!
