Wilmette Star Student Runs Own Business As Compassionate Role Model
Miles, a junior at New Trier High School, started a business called Millmette Camps, Parties and Games.

WILMETTE, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Claire Parker, of Wilmette, who nominated her neighbor, Miles, a junior at New Trier High School.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
The kids in the neighborhood adore Miles. He is an avid babysitter and he took his talent with children, his creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to start a business called Millmette Camps, Parties and Games. www.millmette.com.
Growing up inspired by Amazing Race and Survivor, Miles now designs monthly amazing race activities attracting 30-40 kids each time, along with weekly birthday parties and a popular summer camp. His fellow New Trier students are counselors and they have a devoted following of kids and parents. He also donates 10% of all profits to Chicago-area nonprofit organizations that help kids from under resourced areas.
Miles is an avid community volunteer, for the Center for Enriched Living which supports adults and teens with developmental disabilities, and for a week over the summer at Camp Soar, a camp for children with special needs. He has also volunteered with the Refugee Club and as an election judge with the 2022 midterm elections. With all of this going on, he also maintains a high grade point average.
Here are some quotes from parents about Miles and his business, "My son, who was a rising 3rd grader last summer, could not get enough of the Millmette late summer camp! The camp put together the perfect mix of activities: sports based games, team challenges and, my child’s favorite, 'trick-shot' events. Miles and the counselors are responsible and communicative which I very much appreciate. Parents get real time updates from camp as well as fun photos and videos. From the kids perspective, Miles and the counselors are simply the coolest! I feel great about my kids spending time at camp and having great teenage role models!"
"My son had a great time at the Amazing Race! Such a fun way to get the kids active, creative and practice collaboration and problem solving."
