Whether you're new to Winnetka-Glencoe Patch or you're such an old pro at this site that you've made it your homepage, you've probably figured out that Patch is all about life in your neighborhood.

What matters to you matters to us and this site is more than just an online newspaper. It's an online conversation about Winnetka, Glencoe and Northfield.

So, with that in mind, we're looking for bloggers -- local people who can write, photograph, draw, record, film, or muse about life in these towns. To get the creative juices flowing, here are some suggestions of things you can blog about on Winnetka-Glencoe Patch and links to other blogs:

  • Politics and local government. Weigh in on village meetings and anything else that's on your mind. Let Winnetka-Glencoe Patch be your soapbox.
  • Talents and hobbies. If you're into crafts or DIY-projects or home improvement, share tips and projects with readers (click here to see one of my personal favorites).
  • Photoblog. Are you a regular at the ? Do you take a camera -- SLR or cell phone -- with you wherever you go? Share your shots with us.
  • Food. Eat your way through the North Shore or cook your way through a cookbook (a la The Julie/Julia Project) and share your journey with readers.
  • Local business. Are you a die-hard local shopper? Challenge yourself to shop local for a whole week/month/year (here's some inspiration from the 3/50 Project) and blog about it.
  • Mommy Blogging. It's an industry, people. Share dispatches from parenthood, from the humorous to the educational, on the site.
  • Can you just make us all laugh? We all need a good laugh. Share drawings or cartoons or the latest web comic or viral video you've discovered.
  • Schools and community organizations. Share the latest news about your school, sports team, non-profit, congregation, book club, etc. on Winnetka-Glencoe Patch.

This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month.
