Glencoe's Drinking Water Named Tastiest In Illinois

Glencoe's water beat out five other regions for the title.

Raise a glass (of water), Glencoe residents, and toast the tastiest water in the state. It's what's in your glass.

Glencoe beat four other regional contenders in a contest sponsored by the Illinois section of the American Water Works Association for the best tasting drinking water, according Nora Bertram, chair of IAWWA's water taste contest committee. The other four Illinois municipalities were Geneva, Park Forest, Romeoville and Charleston. The 17th annual competition took place March 22 in Springfield. Water samples were evaluated on odor, taste and clarity.

"This award underscores the significance of northeastern Illinois' most vital natural resource -- our great Lake Michigan, and is a testament to the hard work of each member of the Village's Public Works Department," Assistant Village Manager Will Jones said in the release. "From the employees that directly produce the water to those who operate and maintain its associated infrastructure, Glencoe residents are well-served by a staff that consistently strives to deliver fresh, clean and safe drinking water on a continual, uninterrupted basis."
