Dear Editor,

I am a proud resident of Winnetka since 1998. My wife and I moved here from
downtown Chicago to start and raise a family. I am a first generation American
born from parents of Hungarian and Belgian descent. They are brave immigrants
who, with just the shirts on their backs, made it to the United States, chasing a
dream to raise a family in the greatest country on earth, a society of freedom. They
taught me the importance of education and the responsibility to fight for what is
right.

With that as a background, I would like to thank and acknowledge some brave
Winnetka residents in that spirit. In a transparent and factual manner they have
advocated for and educated Winnetka residents on hot button issues involving
Property taxes, Property Rights, and Property values. They have passionately
pursued accountability and fiscal responsibility from our local Boards and
Committees. And in my eyes, they have done so unselfishly, without regard to
potential backlash on themselves or their families.

I applaud Carry Buck, Ann Dillon, Mary Robbins, Jim Burke, and Tracy Yale. They
deserve our gratitude for asking questions, informing Winnetka residents, and
for their courage to take thoughtful positions on important issues facing our
community. I thank them all for upholding the beliefs my parents instilled in me,
namely, of standing up and honestly defending what they believe is right.

I would also like to thank four passionate and loyal residents who, against the status
quo, braved the intense scrutiny of our community and gave Winnetka a choice:
Jennifer Spinney, Patrick O’Donoghue, Greg Robiaille, and Joel Goldhar.

As a resident, I am proud to stand by you all and count you as my neighbor in our
great Village of Winnetka!

Sincerely,

Patrick A Livney
