Winnetka, Glencoe, Northfield Runners Compete In Chicago Marathon
In all, 67 local runners finished Sunday's 26.2-mile race.

CHICAGO — It may have been a long wait, but for the participants in the 43rd edition of the Chicago Marathon, it was worth it. Taking place for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunday's race was filled with local participants.
There were 34 runners from Winnetka, 26 from Glencoe and seven from Northfield out of the approximately 26,000 people who finished the marathon, according to unofficial results.
Seifu Tura, of Ethiopia, won the men's race with a time of 2:06:12 seconds, while and Ruth Chepngetich, of Kenya, took the women's crown after finishing in 2:22:31.

The wheelchair race was won by Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden, both of the United States, in 1:29:07 and 1:48:57.
The top 10 runners from Northfield, Glencoe and Winnetka, in order of their finishing position within their gender, were the following:

- William Hague, of Winnetka, 2:40:23, 48th in the 25-29 age group, 128th among men, 148th overall
- Kaitlin Frei, of Winnetka, 3:07:52, 52nd in the 25-29 age group, 149th among women, 1,050th overall
- Jake Greenberg, of Glencoe, 2:46:11, 66th in the 25-29 age group, 201st among men, 233rd overall
- Joey Galindo, of Northfield, 3:06:04, 55th in the 20-24 age group, 834th among men, 968th overall
- Jessica McGarvey, of Winnetka, 3:46:11, 203rd in the 35-39 age group, 1,158 among women, 4,593 overall
- Barbara Lincoln, of Glencoe, 3:47:10, 93rd in the 45-49 age group, 1,200 among women, 4,718 overall
- Sara Smylie, of Winnetka, 3:47:35, 174th in the 40-44 age group, 1,219th among women, 4,775th overall
- Grace Healy, of Winnetka, 3:48:20, 341st in the 25-29 age group, 1,249th among women, 4,880th overall
- Charles Power, of Winnetka, 3:20:01, 93rd in the 20-24 age group, 1,581st among men, 1,896 overall
- Christopher Martinez, of Winnetka, 3:21:22, 312nd in the 25-29 age group, 1,657 among men, 1,985 overall
Participants in this year's race were required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of attending the event
