71 Tickets Doled Out In Woodridge During Thanksgiving Crackdown

Woodridge Police increased patrols between Nov. 19 and Nov. 29, with added focus on late night patrols.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A total of 71 tickets were issued in Woodridge during the village's 2021 Thanksgiving crackdown on impaired and distracted driving.

The initiative included 40 hours of additional enforcement, with a focus on planning extra patrols during late night hours. From Nov. 19 through Nov. 29, Woodridge police doled out 31 speeding tickets and 20 citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations. In addition, three arrests were made for traffic violations.

"Our whole goal for the IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation) Thanksgiving enforcement campaign is not to penalize people but to ensure the safety of the public," Woodridge Police Chief Brian Cunningham said in a statement.

Woodridge's Thanksgiving traffic crackdown was part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket programs.
