82 Tickets, 2 Arrests During Distracted Driving Crackdown In Woodridge
Woodridge cops say 36 people were ticketed for distracted driving and nearly 50 other tickets were issued in April for Distracted Driving Aw
WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police issued 82 tickets during April as part of a statewide safety campaign for Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Of these, 36 tickets involved motorists who were cited for distracted driving and 48 tickets were issued for other violations.
Additionally, two drivers were arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
The breakdown of citations issued is as follows:

- Distracted driving: 36
- No insurance: 15
- Miscellaneous citations: 13
- Speeding: 11
- Violations of occupant protection: 7
"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason – to save lives,” Woodridge Police Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson said in a news release.
Stefanson added, "This increased enforcement was implemented to help motorists avoid the often-deadly consequences of distracted driving with a simple reminder: Drop it and drive."
