Cannabis Sales Ban Up For Discussion In Woodridge
Community members are encouraged to provide feedback as Woodridge reconsiders its current ban on cannabis sales.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge is poised to reconsider its current ban on cannabis sales, starting with a workshop planned for Jan. 20. The move comes following an April 6, 2021, referendum question in which more than 55 percent of residents indicated they were in favor of permitting cannabis sales within the village.
In late 2019, Woodridge opted out of cannabis sales, which became legal in Illinois Jan. 1, 2020. Since then, nearby communities including Naperville and Downers Grove have opted to allow cannabis sales.
The workshop will be conducted virtually due to coronavirus precautions. Residents can share their opinions on the issue during the Zoom broadcast or the livestream on the Village of Woodridge YouTube page. Click the link to register for Woodridge's cannabis sales workshop on Zoom.
