Chickens In Woodridge? Village Considering New Ordinance

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge officials are considering an ordinance that would allow residents to keep chickens on their property.
If approved, the ordinance would allow residents to keep hen coops of a maximum of 50 square feet with no more than six hens. No roosters would be permitted.
Homeowners would be required to keep their chicken feed in closed containers and to keep their coops clean.

The coops would have to be placed at least 20 feet from the side and back lines of a resident's property and 10 feet from their home.
Residents can take a survey to share their feedback on the proposed ordinance. The deadline to complete the survey is 4 p.m. on Jan. 16.
