Cops To Crack Down On Drivers During Thanksgiving In Woodridge
Woodridge drivers will notice increased patrols in the days leading up to and following Thanksgiving.
WOODRIDGE, IL — As Thanksgiving approaches, drivers in Woodridge are likely to see more cops patrolling the village streets. Increased enforcement will lead up to the holiday and span Thanksgiving weekend in an effort to increase traffic safety.
The safety campaign started Nov. 17 and will run through Nov. 27.
“Thanksgiving means more vehicles on the road – and an increased risk of crashes,” Woodridge Deputy Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.

He added "No matter how long or short your drive, remember to buckle up and make sure
children are in a safe seat. By buckling up and making a plan for a sober ride home, you help everyone have a safe and happy holiday."
Woodridge Police recommend the following tips for drivers:

- Do not drive high or drunk
- Use a ride service or call a cab
- Take public transit
- Designate a sober driver
- Make sure drivers and passengers are buckled up
Part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" initiatives, Woodridge's Thanksgiving safety crackdown is funded in part by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
