Cops To Target Speeding Drivers In Woodridge

Drivers will notice more officers on patrol amid a campaign to curb speeding in Woodridge.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge are increasing patrols to target speeding drivers as part of a statewide traffic safety campaign.

During July, officers in Woodridge will focus on speeding and other traffic infractions. They are among 200 agencies participating in this "Speeding Catches Up with You" initiative.

"Over the past few years, we have seen an increase in careless and risky driving. No matter how safe ofa driver you think you may be, speeding is dangerous," Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.

He added, "Speed limits aren’t a suggestion – they are the law."

The safety campaign will be underway in Woodridge and other municipalities through July 31.
