More Than 40 Tickets Issued In Woodridge During Thanksgiving Crackdown

The Woodridge Police Department increased patrols during the Thanksgiving holiday as part of a statewide initiative.

WOODRIDGE, IL — More than 40 tickets were issued as Woodridge police increased enforcement during a Thanksgiving safety initiative.

The increased patrols, which lasted Nov. 22 through Dec. 2, were part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.

Police issued the following citations during that time period.

  • 21 speeding tickets
  • 6 safety restraint tickets
  • 1 ticket for using an electronic device
  • 13 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations

Three people were arrested for traffic violations.

“We issue tickets to remind drivers and passengers that seat belt use isn’t a suggestion, it’s the law,” Woodridge Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.

Stefanson added, "This year’s campaign was successful in grabbing people’s attention with
highly visible enforcement methods. As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers."
