Over 70 Drivers Ticketed In Woodridge During Thanksgiving Crackdown

Woodridge police doled out 71 tickets and made two arrests during their most recent traffic safety campaign.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police made two arrests and issued more than 70 tickets during a most recent traffic safety campaign for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The following citations were issued during the increased patrols, which were in effect from Nov. 18 through Nov. 28:

  • 27 speeding tickets
  • 13 seat belt tickets
  • 7 tickets for driving without insurance
  • 2 tickets for suspended or revoked licenses
  • 2 tickets for distracted driving
  • 20 additional citations for miscellaneous violations

“Our officers patrol year-round to keep motorists buckled up and impaired drivers off the roads,”
Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.

He added, “We do this to save lives and ensure all of us make it home safely at the end of the day.”

The two people who were arrested had outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court.

Woodridge was among dozens of law enforcement agencies to take part in a traffic safety campaign during Thanksgiving and the days leading up to and following the holiday. The efforts are funded in part by money from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
