Woodridge Cops To Increase Patrols During Labor Day Weekend
Police will be out in full force in Woodridge through Sept. 6 to target impaired and distracted driving and other traffic violations.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge will be out in full force to crack down on impaired and distracted driving before and during the upcoming Labor Day weekend. The crackdown, which started Aug. 19, will run through Sept. 6.
“We’ll be out in force to keep impaired drivers off the roads with the goal of ensuring our community’s residents and visitors make it home safely once the parties end,” Woodridge Police Deputy Chief Tom Stefansson said in a news release. “If you’ll be celebrating, we urge you to plan ahead for a sober ride.”
Police suggest residents use the following tips to help ensure safety:

- Party hosts should help find sober drivers for guests
- Hosts should offer nonalcoholic drink options
- Drivers should ask a friend for a ride, use a ride share service or sleep until they are sober, if possible
- Do not allow friends to drive if they are impaired
- Wear a seatbelt
The crackdown in Woodridge is part of a statewide initiative linked to the“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
