Woodridge Cops To Increase Patrols Through Labor Day
Woodridge police say they will be on the lookout for drunk and impaired drivers, speeding drivers and more during the safety initiative.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Drivers in Woodridge will see more cops on the road starting Aug. 15 as part of a Labor Day safety campaign to target drunk and impaired drivers. They'll also be on the lookout for other infractions, including seat belt violations, speeding and distracted driving.
“Driving under the influence — whether it’s alcohol, cannabis or any impairing drug — is not just risky,it’s illegal,” Woodridge Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.
Stefanson added, “We’ll be patrolling with zero tolerance for impaired driving, because our goal is to protect the people of our community.”

The efforts are part of the ongoing statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Drive High and Get a DUI" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
“We want our community to enjoy the holiday weekend safely and responsibly,” Stefanson said.

He encouraged drivers to "[p]lan ahead, use a designated driver, and never get behind the wheel impaired. These decisions save lives.”
The Labor Day traffic enforcement campaign will last through Sept. 2.
