Cyclist Fatally Hit On Route 34: Yorkville Police
A GMC Acadia driven by a 22-year-old Plano woman struck the cyclist just after 11 p.m. Monday.
YORKVILLE, IL — A man was killed late Monday in Yorkville after police said he was struck by an SUV while riding his motorized pedal cycle on Route 34, police said.
Yorkville police responded to the area of Route 34 west of Diehl Farm Road just after 11 p.m. for the crash. The cyclist, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, police said a 2013 GMC Acadia driven by a 22-year-old Plano woman was heading east on Route 34 west of Diehl Farm Road as the cyclist was stopped in the left-hand lane of eastbound Route 34, perpendicular to the roadway.

The front passenger side of the Acadia hit the cyclist, police said.
The road was closed for several hours, and police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
