• Oswego East puts up 50-point first half, runs past Yorkville (shawlocal.com) — Yorkville High School’s girls basketball team took a tough 70-31 home loss to Oswego East, which exploded for 50 points by halftime and triggered a running clock in the fourth quarter. Yorkville coach Kim Wensits said her team struggled to finish shots and match Oswego East’s physicality, and both squads now turn their attention to next week’s Fox River Classic tournament.
   

• Legislator demands DCFS set record straight on child welfare interns (thecentersquare.com) — Yorkville state Rep. Jed Davis is pressing Illinois DCFS to stop using interns as lead investigators in child welfare cases and to revisit past investigations where they were involved. He cites public records he says contradict DCFS’ defense of the practice, while the agency insists he remains legally and factually wrong and that the role is properly regulated.
