District 115 Getting School Bus Stop Arm Cameras

The district said their bus service provider Septran Transportation will install the new cameras at no cost.

YORKVILLE, IL — Yorkville School District 115 recently announced their Board of Education approved the purchase of 10 school bus stop arm cameras in a large effort to keep community children safe, according to a release. District officials said the purchase was approved during a meeting at the end of November, and the district's bus service provider Septran Transportation will install the 10 cameras at no cost.

According to a release, the cameras will be used on buses that travel on the routes most at high-risk for stop arm violations, and will take pictures of the car license plates that illegally pass the buses when the stop arm is extended. Law enforcement will then obtain the photos for prosecution, the district said.

An email from district officials stated that installation for the bulk of the cameras will start Monday.
