Juvenile Arrested For Battery, Alcohol Use: Yorkville PD Reports

A new month and new year for crime reports from Yorkville Police Department and Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

YORKVILLE, IL —

Monday, Jan. 7

Hit and run

The Yorkville Police Department said a 2011 Honda Odyssey driven by Matthew J. Smith, 74, of the 2100 block of Village View Drive was turning left onto Landmark Avenue from southbound Route 47 Monday morning when it hit a traffic sign in the median. According to police, Smith drove away, however the van's front license plate was found at the scene, allowing authorities to later identify the van and Smith.

Accident leads to revoked license arrest

Yorkville police said 27-year-old Jose A. Mendez, of the 1100 block of Howell Place, Aurora, was driving a 2004 Chevy Blazer northeast on Cannonball Trail near Amanda Lane when he lost control of the truck and hit a utility pole just before 9:30 a.m. Monday. Police said this caused major damage and Mendez was taken into custody for a revoked Illinois driver's license.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Domestic battery, illegal consumption of alcohol

Yorkville police said they were called to the 1000 block of Patrick Court at 7:47 p.m. Sunday where they investigated a domestic battery. Police said a juvenile was found a short time later and arrested for domestic battery and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police said no injuries were reported, however there was moderate damage.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Car accident

Yorkville police said 39-year-old Janey K. Adams, of the 3700 block of Hoffman, Plano, was reversing a 2013 Ford F-150 out of a parking space at 1980 Marketview Drive at 7:19 p.m. Saturday when the back of her car hit the front end of a 2009 Nissan Altima being driven by 44-year-old John. G. Hlava, of the 1400 block of Orchid Street.

Thursday, Jan. 3

Domestic battery

Yorkville police said at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a 16 and 17-year-old juvenile were involved in a domestic battery incident in the 300 block of E. Somonauk Street. Police said one subject left with a parent/guardian and the other was released to a parent at the location

Warrant charge

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said Angelica Lynn Finley, 20, of the 200 block of Georgeanna Street, was charged Thursday on an in-state warrant stemming from a Dec. 19 offense. The sheriff's office said Finley posted bond for the misdemeanor charge and was released.

Theft of services

Yorkville police said in a theft of services report from Thursday morning, a builder with a house under construction in the 4200 block of Millbrook Circle claims at some point during the last week, unknown people put large household items in the builder's construction dumpster, causing them to pay for an extra dumpster pick up to have it emptied.
